Obituary for Annie Ruth Jamison (Hodel)

Annie Ruth (Hodel) Jamison, age 89, of Swansea, IL, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg, IL after a long illness.

She was born in Flowing Well, Saskatchewan, Canada, on March 16, 1929, to Abraham Mike and Helen (Klassen) Hodel. When she was a young child, her family moved to California, where she spent most of her life. Originally a secretary, she married the best repairman in the shop. Annie was devoted to family, enjoyed travel, and became an accomplished and meticulous quilter. One of the greatest joys in her life was being a grandparent. She had brilliant insights into people and charmed everyone who knew her with her gentle and adventurous spark for life.

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Francis Jamison, and her son, Douglas Charles Jamison.

Surviving are her daughter, Joyce Annette Jamison, son-in-law, Roberto Alfonso Gimenez, and grandson, Harrison Lawrence Gimenez, of Swansea, IL.

A sincere thank you to our Freeburg Care Center family of nurses and staff who lovingly cared for Annie over the past four years, and to Family Hospice of Belleville, who helped make her last days more comfortable. Thank you to our friends, fellow nursing home residents, and volunteers whose friendship and presence helped us all through this time.
