Obituary for Lloyd E. Eardley

Lloyd Earl Eardley of Edwardsville, IL, born December 11, 1944 in New Douglas, Illinois and was the son of Garnett and Delores (Rosenthal) Eardley passed away October 12, 2018 at 6:30 a.m.
Lloyd grew up in New Douglas, Illinois, and graduated from Highland High School. He attended Eastern Illinois University until he was drafted by the United States Army. He served two years in the Army working as a lab technician during his time in the army. He then worked as a steel worker at Laclede Steel in Alton, Illinois for 32 years, working there until the plant closed. After that he enrolled in the Waste Water Treatment Program at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville and shortly after graduation he ran the treatment plant at SIUE for 12 years until he retired. In his free time, Lloyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, caring for his yard, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father Garnett Eardley.
Surviving are his wife of 47 ½ years, Diane Eardley, nee Ulrich; his daughter Dawn Crabtree of Granite City, IL; his daughter Jacqueline (Eric) Hegger of Equality, IL; his daughter Erica (John) Gilbert of Edwardsville, IL; and his daughter Susan (Chris) Kuykendall of Edwardsville, IL; Eight grandchildren Brandon Eardley, Jaeden Townsend, Carter Kuykendall, Austin Kuykendall, Ava Kuykendall, Stella Kuykendall, Aidan Hegger and Jayce Hegger; his mother Delores Eardley of Edwardsville, IL; and his four brothers Bill Eardley, Arthur Eardley, Vernon Eardley, and Dale Eardley.
A memorial service will be held at Holiday Shores Baptist Church located at 6521 Moro Rd in Edwardsville, Illinois, on Sunday, October 21st, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Memorials are suggested the Lewy Body Dementia Association, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Holiday Shores Baptist Church, Search and Rescue SAR-K9-Co-Op.
In an effort to help support research, Lloyd’s body has been donated for medical sciences.
