Susanna Marie Kalmer, age 91, of Breese, formerly of Germantown, passed away peacefully at 1:45 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2018 at Breese Nursing Home.

Sue was born January 30, 1927 in Germantown, the daughter of the late Frederick and Christina (Albers) Beckmann. On September 1, 1947, she married Norbert Kalmer. He preceded her in death in 2007.

She is survived by her five children: Carol (Jim) Wolters of Maryville, John (Jan) Kalmer of St. Rose, Beth Lampen Maheu of Mount Pleasant, SC, Joe (Cheryl) Kalmer of Edwardsviile and Darla (Larry) Deiters of Breese; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernal (Nancy) Beckmann of Ballwin, MO; and two sisters-in-law: Marie Haake of Germantown and Rita Kalmer of Damiansville. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters: Martin “Mac” (the late Catherine) Beckmann, Caroline (the Late Ed) Hagenhoff, Florence (the late Aloys) Holtmann, Fred (the late Dorothy) Beckmann, Grace (the late Vincent “Pete”) Meier, Leon (the late Johanna) Beckmann, Leona (the late Charlie) Mueller, and Frances “Pat” (the late Harold) Kaatmann; and her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Erwin (Linda) Kalmer, Victor Kalmer, and Robert Haake.

Sue was a homemaker and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, as well as the Ladies’ Sodality She enjoyed dancing to the music of her husband’s band, The Aces, quilting, volunteering at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, cooking, reading, playing bingo and spending time with her family.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – noon on Friday, August 3, 2018 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in Germantown. Memorials may be given to the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry or St. Boniface Catholic Church.
